Events are broadcast items or video contents scheduled to broadcasting on a particular date and time. Valid events are the contents sold/provisioned as a single unit to the customer obtaining on demand services like, PPV or VOD.
Event Maintenance: The list of events are maintained in a catalog for ordering, which expires after a fixed time. Event catalog holds the standard price list for events. All related attribute values of events are also maintained in this catalog. (see Event Listing)
Event Scheduling: The date, time, and channel on which the events should be telecasted are specified. The above information is scheduled in the system to create corresponding sessions on a Conditional Access System (CAS).
Event Ordering: Customers having On Demand Services like PPV and VOD can order events through digital cable Set Top Boxes. Customers may call up/approach the Customer Service Representative to order the required events. A customer can also order the events through SMS or Web Selfcare portal. However, an event can not be ordered if the customer's usage exceeds his credit/usage limit. (see Events Order)
The ordered events can be processed for cancellation for various reasons before the cancellation deadline. Once event is ordered, the customer account balance is debited and on cancellation the amount is credited to the customer account. Usage records are maintained in the application to rate and generate charges for the events ordered by the customers.
For example: Events include, screening of feature movies, television programs, sporting events like, cricket match, concerts, and many more.
