Open item bin is a method of clubbing different charge components to form a group. Open item bin can be configured to group the combination of various types of charges which include usage charges, recurring charges, and non-recurring charges. Open items bins provide a flexible and configurable method for allocating payments according to business rules.
Open item bins are useful for the service providers to accept payments at service level. It is also useful to group distinct charges into the same bin for journal maintenance or tax purposes.
The customer balances can be split into multiple open item bins and are given priority according to business requirements.
Generally, credit instruments (payment and credit note) can be raised towards different open item bins and distributed towards debit instruments through Open Item Allocation job. This allocation is configurable, which can be further prioritised based on debit instruments generation dates or open item bins corresponding to the debit instruments.
